I was quite intrigued by the play La Voix Humaine ('The Human Voice'), written by Jean Cocteau in 1928. This is a play about a young woman that is on the phone with her ex-lover with who she has been together for five years. He has ended their relationship in order to be with another woman. She rangs him in a last attempt to set things right and to sort things out. The play consists of one long monologue, said by the young woman who talks to her ex-lover through the phone. Especially, what I found interesting of this play as a maker, is that the words can differ enormously from the things the woman feels. I decided to make a performance based on this play in which I perform the role of the young woman myself. In 2016, I got the chance to perform with this performance at theatre festival Oerol Terschelling (NL).
